Initial Storyboard

For my opening film, I wanted to take the events of this past year and put them on screen. My plan is to create a New Year's Eve party. The film will open at a party with a group of friends celebrating the end of 2019 and soon to be the year 2020. The will be an establishing shot and will consist of diegetic sounds with possibly some light music backing it. The camera will pan to some friends take pictures, where one will notice the clock about to hit midnight. At this point, a wide shot will take place, the group of friends get ready and begin to countdown from 10. After they chant "10," the camera will cut to clips of the girls in the future watching and reading the news about the coronavirus entering the United States. This will likely take the form of POV, medium, and cameo shots. The music will also die down and become more intense to fit the situation. Soon after, the camera will cut back to the party as the girls chant "9." The camera will then transition to show them buying hand sanitizer and masks. I will include a close-up shot of a girl putting a mask on while staring at the camera. The camera will transition back to the party -- this time showing a smiling girl with "2020" glasses on counting down. Clips will then show the girls having to virtually learn and graduate online. Shots will go back and forth similar to this; ultimately showing the contrast between the excitement everyone had for the new year and the troublesome reality of what the year actually turned out to be. Nearing the end, a shot will show the girls celebrating as they have finally reached 0 and are entering 2020. The final shot will be a cameo or close up of the girl who put on the mask/had the 2020 glasses sitting in her bedroom watching the clock strike midnight as the horrible that changed everything is coming to an end. The title, either "Twenty Twenty" or "Happy New Year" (I have not decided), will then appear and the film opening will conclude.
